Club Volunteer Awards and Patches

The 3500 Club recognizes the hard work that volunteers put into improving everyone's hiking experience. Read on for more information about awards and patches that the 3500 Club offers to members.

Club Service Award

The purpose of this award is to recognize service to the club by its members. The award is open to any member in good standing who accumulates 7 points by participating in various activities.

Hike Leader Award

The purpose of this award is to recognize leadership in the club by its members. The award is open to any member in good standing who leads six scheduled hikes including a winter hike and (separately) a bushwhack. Also required is participation in one club trail maintenance outing.

Founders Award

The Founder's Award is a scholarship established by the club to encourage members to attend training to improve their hike leader skills. It was also intended to recruit new hike leaders.

Trailhead Steward Patch

The Trailhead Steward program is a collaboration between The Catskill 3500 Club and the NYSDEC to promote Leave No Trace principles. By volunteering as a trailhead steward twice in one year you will earn the patch and the 1 year rocker. Each additional year that you volunteer twice, you will earn another year rocker.
