Catskill 3500 Club Patches

The Catskill 3500 Club offers a variety of patches to recognize the achievements of its members. To qualify for any of the patches below, you must complete the requirements for the patch and be current on your membership dues (being a member in good standing). More complete information about the requirements for each or the next steps in the process to obtain the patch is linked at the bottom of each section on this page.

Regular Member Patch

Requirements:

  1. Climb and descend the 33 required peaks in any season

  2. Climb and descend the 4 required peaks (Slide, Panther, Balsam, and Blackhead) additionally in winter (December 21 to March 21, inclusive)*

  3. Subsequently, submit your tally and membership dues (if not a registered Aspirant in good standing)

  4. Your accomplishment will be celebrated at the annual dinner

Winter Member Patch

Requirements:

  1. Complete the regular member requirements above

  2. Climb and descend all 33 required peaks in winter (December 21 to March 21, inclusive)*

  3. You may complete this in conjunction with your regular round, but the 4 winter required peaks must be completed twice in either case, at least once in winter

  4. Subsequently, submit your tally and membership dues (if not currently a member in good standing)

  5. Your accomplishment will be celebrated at the annual dinner

Club Service Award Patch

Requirements:

  1. The award is open to any member in good standing who accumulates 7 points by participating in service activities through the Club

  2. Activities include trail maintenance, Adopt-a-Highway clean up, trailhead stewardship, and more

  3. Tally your points and submit the form via the link below.

Trailhead Steward Patch

Requirements:

  1. Join the Trailhead Steward program, which requires you complete training and be a member or Aspirant in good standing. (If an Aspirant, you must be familiar with and have hiked the Burroughs range.)

  2. Volunteering as a trailhead steward twice in one year, you will earn the patch and the 1-year rocker

  3. Each additional year that you volunteer twice, you will earn another year rocker

Hike Leader Patch

Requirements:

  1. Become a Catskill 3500 Club hike leader

  2. Lead six scheduled hikes, including one winter hike and one bushwhack

  3. Take part in a club trail maintenance outing

  4. Submit your application via the link below

Life Member Patch

Requirements:

  1. Complete regular member requirements above

  2. Join as a Life Member and show your life-long commitment and stewardship to the Club.  

The Club's by-laws define “winter” as the period from December 21 to March 21, inclusive, regardless of the actual occurrences of the winter solstice and vernal equinox in particular years.​

Requirements to earn a regular member and winter patch are stated in the Bylaws.
